Game Symbols

Launched in January 2018, Hula Hula Nights is a real winter-defying slot machine. It’s all about parties at the beach, blooming flowers and relaxing. Purple reels are set against beach imagery, and you’ll see both playing card symbols and theme-related symbols alternating on screen. Lower values are represented by icons from 10 to Ace, in Hawaiian style. Bigger payouts await if you manage to land flower symbols; there’s the pink lotus, a yellow flower and a red flower. However, the two symbols of hula girls pay out the most.

Besides the regular paytable, Hula Hula Nights features three more symbols attached to the special features. The Tiki Mask is the Wild card, and there is also a Scatter, represented by a cocktail served in a coconut and the game’s logo. During one of the special features you’ll also notice a Collect symbol, showing a palm tree, but we’ll get to it a bit later.

Hula Hula Nights plays out like a regular 5×3 slot machine. It features 10 paying lines which are fixed and active on every spin. However, since this is a game coming from WMS and being ordinary is not what those guys do, you’ll see a Big Bet button available on the control panel. What does that mean? Well, it means you can select different betting options, and if you choose the highest level, you can play with 20 fixed paylines. By going with the Big Bet option, you’ll play five linked spins for a predetermined stake and various symbol combinations. Hula Hula Nights can also be played in Auto mode, in case you want to sit back, relax, and sip on your summer cocktail without having to click the Spin button every time.

Bonus Features

In terms of bonus features Hula Hula Nights can sometimes be quite unpredictable and we like that. It’s good to be pleasantly surprised with a bonus round when you least expect it. The Green Reels feature is a random one, and when it happens, you’ll see reels getting highlighted in green, enabling similar symbols to rotate and get closer together, enhancing the possibilities for more winning combinations.

Furthermore, every time you land three or more Scatters on screen, the Free Spins round will initiate. For three of them you get 10 free spins, for four you get 15 and for a max of five Scatters you’ll receive a total of 25 free spins. The green reels can also appear during free spins, and when they do they’ll introduce cash values which you can collect by landing the palm tree Collect symbol on those reels. Quite a neat way to boost your balance! Have we mentioned the Double Height Scatter? Yup, the Scatter symbol can grow two symbols high, and add a bit more of the lucky charm to your odds.

WMS’s Hula Hula Nights doesn’t feature a progressive jackpot, but makes up for it with an array of special features and winning possibilities. The betting range stretches from $0.10 up to as much as $500, or currency equivalent. If you’re betting the max, the most you can expect to win is 250,000 coins. As for the RTP, it can vary according you your bet level. The Big Bet spins at the highest level will raise the RTP up to 98%, bigger to middle wagers balance the RTP at 96%, and smaller bets will return a percentage of 94%.

The game’s tropical inspiration and motivational theme is bound to appeal to a lot of players. The Big Bet feature can be quite profitable; overall, the slot offers plenty of possibilities to improve one’s winning score. Sure, the playing card symbols are a given, when they don’t have to be, but they do fit into the theme. The music is nice, which is expected from a hula-themed slot machine. The Free Spins round is great, lucrative enough and also creative with cash prizes and the whole Collect concept. You can play Hula Hula Nights on mobile as well, so there’s practically no excuse – go ahead and try the new WMS slot right away.
